My approach to web design & develoment

My goal is to design the most appropriate looking website for you and your audience.

My primary approach is to find out the true purpose of your website, and work closely with you to create the simplest and most tasteful way of getting that information out into the world in a compact, stylish and professional manner.

Too often, websites have been overdesigned without any consideration for the client, the content, or the customer. Unnecessary graphics distract from the information you’re looking for.

Good web design has as much to do with how a website functions as how it looks.

The Process

1. NEEDS ANALYSIS (by phone or in person)
   I conduct a 'needs analysis' (the process of determining your needs by acquiring information, processing and evaluating the information, then creating the best plan of action to address those requirements). Once the needs/desires are determined, the next step is to document the scope of the project, and agree on the budget.
   
   
2. PLANNING SCHEDULE
   Now that we know what you want, we can create a project schedule. The schedule lists all the tasks which need to be done, and their intended deadlines.
   
   
3. DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
   Once the site map (a graphical representation of a website's navigation/page structure) has been created and agreed upon and the content needed has been organised - the designing begins. I provide several differrent layout ideas and keep in communication with you throughout the design process. Once you have approved the final design, I develop completed versions, create graphics and web pages that will be used in the fully functional site.
   
   
4. TEST & LAUNCH
   After I've successfully tested the finished website on the servers (and various platforms & browsers), we make any final tweaks before finally launching it on the world wide web. Once the finished website is up and running, we then figure out which monthly hosting & maintenance package is best for you so that your website is well looked after for years to come.
   

Fees - How much does a website cost?

Costs vary from website to website, and are unique to each project.

Only after a detailed consultation and the creation of the basic 'site architecture' (site map) can we begin to understand the time and costs involved. Remember, we're developing something original for you.

There is a website for every budget and all fees are agreed upon before the project begins. No hidden costs or surprises.
